Save the date for a first grade parent literacy night! We invite all interested first grade parents to the South School on Wednesday, September 15th from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. The first grade team will provide information about what literacy looks like in a first grade classroom, as well as share ideas and techniques for parents to try at home to support our blossoming readers. All school visitors are asked to enter South School through our front door entrance, stop in the office to sign our visitor book and take a visitor tag. We appreciate your efforts to help keep our school safe!
South School Club Sign-Up will begin on Thursday, September 2nd. Special thanks to the Glencoe PTO for sponsoring the morning clubs at South School for first and second graders. All clubs meet before school, from 8:00 am - 8:40 am, within South School. All club registration will occur online. Click here to access our online registration. Please review the options and select your choices for the entire school year. You must select club options and provide registration information for each child. An email confirmation will be sent after you complete this registration. Registration will be open through September 15, 2010.
Parents, as we begin our new year, please take a moment to review the following reminders for our before/after school period at South School:
DOGS - Please be mindful that based on school code, safety reasons and health concerns, dogs of any size are not permitted on school grounds.
BICYCLES - We ask that adults and children please walk their bikes and scooters while on school grounds. Remember, please, that wearing a helmet is the law in Glencoe.
CARLINE - Our carline proceeds east on Madison and turns right on Linden. Please be courteous to others by joining the carline on Madison. Cars may NOT turn left into the carline from Harbor.

Please take a moment to read about some changes to our South School transportation guidelines. We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Sue Grabowski to the role of Transportation Clerk at South School. At this time, we are also making some changes to our transportation program. Please note: We will not be accepting Transportation Notes until October 4th. We would like the students to adhere to their regular transportation plans until then in order to transition back into the school year routines. You will receive Transportation Notes home with your child the week of September 27th. Thank you!

The Glencoe School Board Nominating Committee is seeking candidates to serve on the Glencoe District 35 Board of Education. Three of the seven positions will be filled in the spring election with the four-year terms beginning immediately. Applications must be completed and filed by October 1. Illinois law requires proof of an eye examination by an optometrist or physician who provides complete eye exams be submitted as a child enters kindergarten or is new to an Illinois school. The exam must be completed within one year prior to your child beginning school. All forms must be turned in by October 15th. Download the EYE EXAM form here.
