Travel Information

The links here provide current information and recommendations about travel from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), and the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH).

Monitoring travel is one of many possible layered mitigations recommended by the CDC for schools.  The CDC states in this same document that schools “should monitor community transmission, vaccination coverage, screening testing, and occurrence of outbreaks to guide decisions on the level of layered prevention strategies (e.g., physical distancing, screening testing).”

At this time, we are not enforcing quarantines for travel, though we are leaving the option open to do so in the future depending on the level of school and community transmission. However, we strongly recommend that when traveling all students (vaccinated or not fully vaccinated):

• Abide by the mandate to wear masks in airports and on airplanes
• Wear a mask when indoors in public places or when indoors with members outside your household, except when eating or drinking.
• Diligently monitor for symptoms and take a COVID test using our in-school Shield Testing Program or at one of the many local testing sites.  We recommend you test immediately after travel and 3-5 days after travel. Wear a mask consistently and avoid close contact with others until you receive the results.
