South School Open House
We look forward to a full house for the South School Family Open House on Thursday, May 22nd. We welcome our kindergarten, first and second grade students to share the highlights of their classrooms with our families. The evening will begin at 6:45pm and conclude at 8:00pm.

New Trier Facilities Meetings
Learn about New Trier facilities challenges & tour the campus! Community members may tour New Trier's Winnetka campus following each of six remaining Open Community meetings this spring. At each meeting, Superintendent Linda Yonke will update residents on the work of the New Trier Facilities Workshop Committee. In June, possible facilities solutions will be presented to the New Trier school board. You're invited!

Board of Education Member Applications Accepted
It is with sadness and gratitude that the school community bids farewell to Dr. Greg Makoul. Dr. Makoul has resigned his position from the Glencoe School District Board of Education and will be moving out of state with his family. One year remains in Dr. Makoul’s term.

The Board of Education is currently accepting applications and will conduct interviews to fill the vacancy created by Dr. Greg Makoul’s resignation. One year remains in Dr. Makoul’s term. The Board will take action to fill this vacancy at the regular monthly meeting scheduled for June 9, 2008. The appointee will begin his/her role as a Board of Education Member at the June 9th meeting.

Summer Explorations Update
Registration for District 35 Summer Explorations is now closed. Please revisit our webpage on Monday, June 9 ( beginning at 9:00 a.m.) through Friday, June 13 (until 3:00 p.m.) for late registration. First come/first served. Enrollment is limited. Not all classes may be available.

Choose To Be Drug Free Parade
The Glencoe Department Of Public Safety, in a community partnership, announces our 16th annual Choose To Be Drug Free parade and family festival on Friday May 16, 2008. The parade will step off from Central Junior High School (620 Greenwood) and end at Village Court at 3:30, where the festivities begin. Some examples of the food and entertainment include: The Jesse White Tumblers, Bizar Entertainment, inflatable moonwalk and obstacle course as well as booths serving food and promoting healthy choices.

Please consider bringing your bicycle to the event where we will also be providing free registration stickers and conducting a drawing from the bike registrants in attendance - giving away bike helmets to the lucky winners. We look forward to seeing you!
    

BUS TRANSPORTATION REGISTRATION
All completed bus registration forms and fees for 2008-2009 bus transportation must be received in the Business Office no later than Wednesday, May 28th at 4:30pm.

GJK Fun Fair
Join in for family fun at the GJK Fun Fair on Saturday, May 17th from 10am-3pm at Kalk Park. There is a raindate scheduled for Sunday, May 18th, as well. There will be rides, games, prizes, magic and more for kids of all ages to enjoy. Download more information here!     

Transportation Claims May Now Be Filed!
Parent/Guardian State Pupil Transportation Reimbursement Claims for the 2007-2008 school year are required to be filed by June 30, 2008. In order to complete a claim, please visit our school office to share the necessary information with the office staff. Please be prepared to share the mileage from your home to South School for the reimbursement form. For additional details on qualifications, please download the Transportation Claim information.
